Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is the puppy weight predictor?

For known purebred dogs, our predictions are typically within 10-15% of actual adult weight based on the veterinary "Rule of Paws" multiplier method. Mixed breeds and very young puppies (under 8 weeks) have more variability. Genetics, nutrition, and health all affect final size.

At what age is the prediction most accurate?

Predictions are most reliable between 8 and 16 weeks of age for small/medium breeds, and between 12 and 20 weeks for large and giant breeds. Earlier predictions have wider confidence ranges.

How does the photo breed detection work?

We use a computer vision model trained on millions of dog images to identify breed characteristics from your photo. The tool shows you the top breed matches and their confidence scores. For mixed breeds, we use the most likely breed for the weight calculation.

What if my dog is a mixed breed?

Upload a photo and our AI will identify the most prominent breed traits. Alternatively, select "Mixed Breed (Small/Medium/Large)" based on the parent breeds you know. Our size-group predictions are still quite reliable for mixes.

When do dogs stop growing?

Small breeds typically stop growing at 9-12 months. Medium breeds reach adult size by 12-15 months. Large breeds take 15-18 months, and giant breeds like Great Danes can continue growing until 18-24 months of age.

Is this a substitute for veterinary advice?

This tool is for informational purposes only. For concerns about your puppy's growth, nutrition, or health, always consult a licensed veterinarian. Regular vet check-ups are the best way to monitor healthy development.
